Multinacional Disney adquiriu a Lucasfilm, a fábrica de sonhos de um dos grandes realizadores da história do cinema, George Lucas, e já anunciou nova trilogia da saga "Guerra das Estrelas".
A Lucasfilme, empresa do criador da "Guerra das Estrelas", foi comprada pela Disney por quatro mil milhões de dólares (3125 milhões de euros).
A transação incluiu, além da saga, o resto das franquias e todos os negócios dos estúdios fundados por George Lucas em 1971. Mas o realizador norte-americano conseguiu ficar com todos os direitos milionários de merchandising dos produtos derivados dos filmes.
A notícia surpreendeu a indústria cinematográfica e os milhões de fãs incondicionais da "Guerra das Estrelas". A Disney anunciou já o lançamento de pelo menos três novos episódios do incansável combate entre os cavaleiros Jedi e o Lado Negro. O primeiro chegará aos cinemas em 2015. Bog Iger, responsável pela empresa, assegurou que ficarão, assim, completados os nove episódios idealizados por George Lucas. As estreias ocorrerão a cada dois ou três anos.
